The Dynamics of Naturalization Process in Latvia and Estonia in the years 1995 - 2005
Márová, Tereza ; Švec, Luboš (advisor) ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (referee)
The restoration of independence of the three Baltic States occurred in 1991. However the previous period of Soviet occupation brought dire, and to a large extent, permanent changes in the ethnic composition of the population. The changes were the primary reason why both countries had fairly restrictive conditions in the revival of civil status - citizenship was given to pre-war citizens and their direct descendants. This thesis by comparative analysis tries to find out the main differences and similarities in the dynamics of naturalization process in Latvia and Estonia. The dynamics will be analyzed from 1995 to 2005. Latvian naturalization process began in 1995. The year 2005 is characterized by a dramatic changes in preferences of non- citizens, which probably occurred after the accession to the European Union. The first part presents the important concepts of the work and presentment of the two countries at the beginning of the 1990s. Then the comparative analysis follows itself. Naturalization is analyzed according to the characters, which, I believe, had the most important influence on the dynamics of the process - Citizenship Act (and its amendments), Language Act, the accession of both countries to the EU and other economical reasons. Keywords The Soviet Union, Latvia, Estonia,...

Nationality in sport environment
Straková, Bára ; Hamerník, Pavel (referee)
1 Abstract Nationality in sport environment The main task of this thesis is to consider the current state of nationality in sport environment with the respect to increasing numbers of international transfers of athletes and the following possible connections of nationality and sport eligibility. At the same time, I am trying to find the answer to question whether it is possible to create complex regulations within international sport law on this issue. The main sources for my research were international treaties, different national laws and also European Union Law. Since much of this work is influenced by lex sportiva it became an integral part of this work as well. Within the first and second chapter I am dealing with the concepts of nationality and naturalization in general, which are analyzed mainly in the light of international treaties, international customs and available case law. I am complementing this data with the findings of national regulations which have had great influence for the field of nationality. In the following text I am analyzing the concept of sport eligibility, mainly its content and significance in general and within this work. I am doing this with the help of the judgments of the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the doctrinal articles. In Chapter Five I am referring to possible...

Treatment-related naturalization premiums in two European countries: evaluation and comparison
Sargsyan, Vahan
We conduct an empirical study in order to estimate the impact of naturalization on labor market\nintegration of first generation immigrants in two European countries, France and Denmark. The\nstudy contributes to the existing literature by: (1) comparing the employment opportunities and\nincomes of naturalized and non-naturalized migrants in European labor markets to those of the\nnative population, and (2) attempting to estimate the impact of characteristics of a country’s\ncitizenship policy on this relationship. The results suggest the existence of high naturalization premiums and full socioeconomic integration of naturalized migrants in France, a country with relatively soft naturalization policies, but not for Denmark, which has strict naturalization policies.
